The best policies for peace are as they have ever been: free, secular, western democracies with capitalist free markets and regulatory bodies to ensure things don’t get out of hand. Everything else pails by comparison.
Communism? Failed. Every single time.
Islamic theocracies? Failed. Every single one.
In the absence of something better, we've got to go with American style Western nations, and we have to ensure everybody else does as well. It's the one thing that works. The stone corner of the Western civilization is the tolerance in politics, in religion, in economy, in science and in the arts.
