Africa’s natural resources have caught the eye of China. China has also offered aid without imposing any political conditions such as respecting human rights, a move welcomed by some African governments, but one that has been criticized by the West.
We should be happy the Chinese are in Africa. Very few firms and countries see Africa as a focus of their activities and there is a dire need for infrastructure investment in Africa - clearly the Chinese are comfortable with the risks and have figured out how to get paid! We should salute them and welcome them to other infrastructure projects around the world including the USA.
