Adoption should be promoted

I agree that adoption should be promoted and that US born children should be first, but I also know that orphans and abandoned children in other countries deserve a chance too.
I suspect that wealthier people who adopt from China and other countries (and lets face it, they are almost all wealthier because it costs a lot to obtain a child from abroad!) are open to a child who does not look like them- but not to black or biracial children. Somehow Asian, Latino, Romanian, etc, is more acceptable in the 'burbs than black or biracial.

There are plenty of white and black and biracial children awaiting adoption here, they just tend not be newborns.

In most cases, those adoptions are free or very low cost and many children are eligible for ongoing financial support from their state, so there's no excuse for infertile couples to lament some lack of children for them to adopt. They exist. They may not look like you, but they would love to be your family.
