Rep. Blunt: "Energy Certainly Dominates Every Discussion."

Dems Will Not Allow Oil Supply Increase

The ranking Republican on the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, Jim Inhofe tells Newsmax correspondent Ashley Martella that Democrats will not allow drilling in petroleum-rich areas of the outer continental shelf or anywhere in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He says people fed up with prohibitive gasoline prices need to pressure them. He explains the fallacy of their argument that the oil companies are not drilling on millions of acres they've already leased. Inhofe notes the millions of dollars far left organizations, funded by George Soros and others are pouring into the anti-drilling crusade.

Mugabe is a fascist dictator

Robert Mugabe is one of the most prolific mass murderer in modern history on par with those animals who rule Burma. He is committing genocide to retain his grip on power. In the face of hundreds of thousands of human being starving to death, his murdering four more human beings is hardly worth the mention.

He has no other tactic other than terror. He should never have been allowed to leave Italy when he was there to attend the UN meeting. Mugabe is a lying, fascist dictator. The only reason he still hangs on to power is his main sponsor -the aids denialist Mbeki-.

Mugabe (Zimbabwe), Fidel Castro (Cuba) and Hugo Chavez (Venezuela) must be condemned by the international community. If not, we are supporting his crimes.

We need to drill more for oil

President George W Bush has asked Congress to end a 27-year ban on drilling for oil in US coastal waters to reduce dependence on imports. Mr Bush said rocketing world oil prices meant the United States could not afford to pass up opportunities for developing energy resources at home.
About two years ago a significant event happened in oil production that will have a big impact on world consumption: For the first time in history the rate of depletion of known reserves now exceeds that of new reserve discovery. What this means is that we are using up our known reserves faster then we are replacing them with new discovery. So yes! We need to drill more. It's not simply a matter of economics, but also one of our very survivals. Without oil the human race will crash and burn out.

Ireland to vote on EU reform treaty

Irish voters are going to the polls to decide whether to ratify the European Union reform treaty. Ireland is the only one of 27 member states to hold a referendum on the treaty and the vote is being anxiously watched across Europe. All of the main Irish parties back the Yes vote but the No campaign have made strong gains. Many voters remain undecided and polls suggest the result will be extremely close.
This Treaty is about restructuring institutions that are ALREADY there. It is about reforming and making the EU which has the overwhelming support of Irish people 90%+ . It is not about changing National Law's, or National Freedom.
The Yes side has been so slow and unable to get the basic simple principles that are good about this treaty across.
The No side has simply muddied the water, confused people. Putting doubts about the EU's involvement in Ireland's tax and abortion laws…

Taiwan-China talks

Taiwan has accepted an invitation from China to restart bilateral talks. Bilateral talks between China and Taiwan have been suspended for a decade but the election of Ma Ying-jeou as Taiwan's president in March has brought about a rapid thaw in relations. China has invited Taiwanese officials to attend talks in Beijing from 11 June, with the focus on tourism and charter flights. Chinese state media Xinhua said the talks would cover the issue of mainland tourists visiting Taiwan and the establishment of direct regular charter flights.

The immediate result of the talks will be more economic progress and reassurance that there will be peace for quite a some time. That is a good thing for all people. A civilization is stronger when its people are working together. Some people may still want independence but if you look at the Middle East, the Arab nations would not come to aid their fellow Arabs in Iraq even though they share similar culture and history. Chinese people should avoid disunity or they will all suffer.
